Last week, Mainstream Digital took part in a careers event at a local school, Cirencester Deer Park.
The event was organised and shared between Deer Park School and Cirencester Kingshill School, and this is the first one that Mainstream has appeared at.
With over 60 local organisations represented in a wide range of diverse sectors such as science, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, media and the arts. Mainstreams stand was located in the school Atrium and, as the only participant in the communications sector, was one of the busier stands in the area.
The event was to help young people that were choosing subjects to study for options or further education, and to show them the wide variety of industries available in the local area. We were able to tell many people about the business of Mainstream and the wide variety of roles that are covered in our business, from commercial through to technical.
Mainstream has been based in Cirencester for over 20 years and this event was a good opportunity to show Mainstream to the general public, with many parents also interested in our story.
We were able to show a typical PBX telephone system that might be installed at a client site, and the inner workings to show that this is just a type of computer. Many of the questions were about the technical and development side of Mainstream and the qualifications that might be needed to work in this sort of team.
